The G2 Retractable Gel Ink Rolling Plastic Ball Pen produced by Pilot Corporation of America is one of the finest pens available on the market today. It has been my daily writing instrument for the past two years. A single Plastic Ball Pen can be purchased from Office Depot for $1.69 or a box of 12 for $16.49 The most common colors currently available are black, blue, red, and green. There are also two different lengths in four different tip sizes. My personal favorite is the black, .05mm tip size pen in the standard length. The .05mm is perfect for the subscript size characters I sometimes have to make when writing out equations.

APPEARANCE AND FUNCTION
The Pilot G2 is well made and durable, and it looks like it too. The clear body looks good and allows me to easily view how much ink I have left and know when I should begin carrying a replacement. The grip is made of a comfortable yet durable rubber that does not slip off the pen body and provides plenty of grip to prevent slipping when held. The G2 grip is also one of the few I have come across that doesn't attract grease or dirt.

The pocket clip built into the pen is another useful feature although I rarely clip a pen to my pockets. Instead, I use the clip to keep papers together or attach it to a binder I'm carrying.

WRITING PERFORMANCE
I have found that the G2 provides a smoother writing feel than other pens that cost 300 times as much. The first time I came across a G2 Plastic Ball Pen was on an Internet article that described how a Mont Blanc pen cartridge, the same cartridges found in $500+ pens, could be retrofit into the G2 pen body for under $10.

While it is clever trick to use something comparable to what a wealthy executive might use for only $10, I actually found the G2 ink cartridge to be preferable to the Mont Blanc cartridges. The G2 cartridge felt far superior, felt smoother, and I believe that it lasts longer as well.
